Special Issue Coatings | Invitation to submit | Synthesis, Coatings and Functionalization of Novel Materials for Applications in Energy and Environment

Special Issue Information

We are facing a huge problem of air contamination and global warming due to the high consumption of fossil fuels. In addition, it is of high relevance to the substitution of current batteries (AA, AAA, or lithium batteries) because they contain corrosive/toxic compounds to the environment. In order to palliate the problem of contamination produced by the current batteries and fossil fuels, it is necessary new ways to produce clean energy. The current literature has demonstrated that innocuous materials based on carbon compounds (graphene, carbon nanotubes, etc.), perovskites and oxides, can be used for the fabrication of devices able to generate/store energy without contamination of the environment. In fact, a new trend is making energy storage devices from recycled plastics or using biodegradable compounds. Since the diminution of contamination by the current energy sources is a need, I invite to all the colleagues worldwide to present in this issue your strategies/concepts about innovative materials or devices that contribute to the generation and storage of energy in a sustainable and eco-friendly way. Any work about a novel material or device that can potentially substitute or overcome the current state of the art materials/devices is also welcome.
